Weekend Club Preview

In a relatively quiet weekend as the season winds down, there is a handful of games at senior and junior levels down for decision.

UCC are the only Munster side in action in the Ulster Bank All Ireland League as they travel to the Capital to take on Blackrock College in the Division 2A Play off final. After an impressive performance last week in Banbridge, College will be hopeful of becoming the third Cork side to gain promotion this season.

Bateman Cup holders Cork Constitution, who are aiming to win the trophy for the fourth successive year, travel to Galway to take on Galwegians in the decider at Crowley Park.
These sides met in the league recently with Con’ fortunate to come out on top. They can expect another tough encounter from the Westerners but their experience should see them through.

Old Crescent and Young Munster lock horns in the second semi-final of the Bank of Ireland Munster Senior Cup, with the winners due to meet holders Cork Constitution in the decider.

The Munster Junior team start their Interprovincial campaign with a trip to Portlaoise to meet Leinster. This will be a tough encounter for the Reds as their preparations have been hampered by the weather and a back log of fixtures.

On Sunday the only other Junior game on besides the Bank of Ireland Munster Junior Cup final which will be played in Irish Independent Park is the Cork County Final.

Holders Skibbereen take on Cobh Pirates in the decider at Bandon which should be a rip roaring game.

On Saturday Garryowen host Mitchelstown to decide who will win the Tony O’Flynn Memorial Cup a competition between the Gleeson League winners and the South Munster Junior Two League winners. The Limerick clubs have dominated this competition in recent years so Garryowen will start as favourites.

At Bandon the home side face holders Highfield in the final of the South Junior 2 Cup and holders Clonmel face Waterpark in Carrick-on-Suir in the final of the Dave Dineen Cup.
