Weekend Club Preview

The final series of group games in the top two divisions of the Ulster Bank All Ireland League are down for decision, together with Division 2B and Division 2C promotion play-offs and the Provincial League Championship.

In Division 1A Cork Constitution will be looking to make the most of home advantage count in a bid to earn themselves a home tie in the League semi-finals, as they welcome struggling Galwegians to Temple Hill. Galwegians ran out 12-11 winners when these sides met at Crowley Park in September and these sides are due to meet two weeks later in Galway in the Bateman Cup decider.


Young Munster host champions Lansdowne and they will be aiming to avenge their 29-6 defeat at the Aviva on the opening day of the campaign. The Limerick side will also be aiming to grind out a maximum point win if they are to have home advantage in the semi-finals.


Fifth-placed Garryowen will be looking to finish their campaign on a winning note as they travel to County Down to take bottom side Ballynahinch, who they defeated 14-10 at Dooradoyle in September.


Dolphin face a tricky task in their bid to avoid a second successive relegation as they host Division 2B champions St Mary’s College at Irish Independent Park.


Fellow strugglers UL Bohemian, who recorded a 34-0 victory over Belfast Harlequins last time out, are away to Old Wesley and Limerick neighbours Shannon will be looking to end their campaign on a winning note as they host Buccaneers.


Sunday’s Well make the long trip north to Foyleside for the second time in a month to take on City of Derry at Judge’s Road in their Division 2B promotion play-off. The ‘Well ran out 11-8 winners in Derry and the Foylesiders recorded 23-18 win at Irish Independent Park in September.


Bruff travel to the Faithful County to take on Tullamore in their Division 2C promotion play-off. The County Limerick side won both matches against Tullamore as they recorded a narrow 9-8 victory in Offaly on Easter Saturday and a 22-15 home win in September.


In the Provincial League Championship, Clonmel will be looking to make the most of home advantage count in their bid to qualify for the play-of as they host Leinster Champions Enniscorthy.


There are also a handful of Junior games across a variety of competitions down for decision on Sunday. These were all rescheduled due to the bad weather last Sunday.

Division 1 of the Munster Junior League concludes with two games involving the three bottom sides to decide which Clubs will be relegated form the top flight.

Relegation certainties Old Christians, who are second form bottom on 18 points, face a tricky task as they travel to Limerick to take on fourth-placed Richmond.


Waterpark, who are hovering above the drop zone on 19 points host bottom side St Mary’s with the home side looking to make the most of home advantage count in a bid to preserve their top flight status.


Presentation and Bruff go head to head in the second semi-final of the Bank of Ireland Munster Junior Bowl at Rathuard, with the winners meeting Fermoy in the decider. The home side won the trophy as part of a Treble in 2011, together with the Martin O’Sullivan Cup and the Munster Junior League Division 3 title.


Abbeyfeale entertain Mallow in the second semi-final of the Munster Junior Clubs’ Challenge Shield, with Thurles awaiting the winners in the decider.


Muskerry take on Skibbereen in the first semi-final of the Cork County Cup at Ballyanly, with the winners facing Old Christians or Cobh Pirates in the final.
