There are Ulster Bank All Ireland League play-offs and a handful of Junior games down for decision in a relatively quiet weekend as the season begins to wind down.
Cork Constitution will be looking to make the most of home advantage count for their Ulster Bank All Ireland League Division 1A semi-final against Young Munster. The Limerick side won both group games against Con’ by single point margins. The winners are due to meet Clontarf or UCD in the decider with Con’ seeking their fifth crown, while ‘Munsters will be aiming to add to their solitary title of 1993. The final is scheduled for Sunday 8th May in the Aviva Stadium.
UCC make the long trip to County Down for their Division 2A promotion play-off with Banbridge. The Students ran out 27-26 winners when these sides met on Leeside in November, while ‘Bridge recorded a 16-3 home win in January.
Cashel travel to the Capital to take on Blackrock College as they seek promotion to Division 1B.
Sunday’s Well host Greystones in a Division 2B promotion play-off final at Irish Independent Park, with the County Wicklow side having won both group games against the ‘Well on the opening and last days of the campaign.
Clonmel face a tricky assignment in the All Ireland Provincial League series as they welcome leaders and former AIL Club Bangor to South Tipperary. Clonmel will be looking to bounce back from their recent defeat by Enniscorthy and qualify for a play-off against Sligo.
The second semi-final of the Bank of Ireland Muster Junior Cup sees Cork Constitution taking on Richmond at Temple Hill, with the winners meeting Young Munster in the decider.
Nenagh Ormond and Muskerry go head to head in the first semi-final of the Bank of Ireland Munster Junior Plate at New Ormond Park.
Ballincollig host Waterpark in the last remaining quarter final and the winners will be at home to St Mary’s in the second semi-final.
Presentation and Fermoy contest the Bank of Ireland Munster Junior Bowl decider, with the Limerick side aiming to become the first Club to have won the trophy twice. Presentation won the Bowl as part of a Treble in 2011, together with the Munster Junior League Division 3 League title and the Martin O’Sullivan Cup. This is Fermoy’s third appearance in a final this season. They will be aiming to make it a case of the third time lucky as they were defeated by Youghal in the finals of the Martin O’Sullivan Cup and the O’Neill Cup. Fermoy will also be seeking their first Munster Junior Bowl title as they were defeated by Newport in the inaugural decider in 2010.
Abbeyfeale and Thurles lock horns in the Munster Junior Club’s Shield decider at Charleville. Abbeyfeale are aiming to add to their Munster Junior League Division 2 title while the Tipperary side, who missed out on promotion will be looking to collect silverware for the second successive year.
Old Christians go head to head with Cobh Pirates in the second semi-final of the Cork County Cup, with the winners meeting holders Skibbereen in the decider.
