Weekend Club Preview

Clubs continue their preparations for the new season with a series of one-day tournaments and the opening series of games in the Transfield Cup and the North Munster Under 20 League getting under way this weekend.
The Limerick Charity Cup is down to the semi final stage with Old Crescent v Garryowen and Young Munster host UL Bohemian and these games are scheduled for next week.
The Cork Charity Cup has a new format and will be played at Temple Hill next Saturday. Eight teams will compete, Cashel, Cork Constitution, Dolphin, Highfield, Midleton, Sunday’s Well, U.C.C. and Clonmel.
The teams are divided into two groups of four with games of thirty minutes each. The winners of each group will contest the final.
The competition starts at 1pm and the final is scheduled for 6pm.
Patrons will be expecting to be treated to an exhibition of open running rugby as there will be no penalty kicks at goal
Old Crescent and Abbeyfeale get proceedings underway in the Transfield Cup at Rosbrien on Friday evening.
There are four ties down for decision on Sunday as last year’s finalists Shannon travel to the Banner County to take on Ennis and St Senan’s entertain Richmond.
Presentation are away to Bruff and Thomond take on Young Munster at Liam Fitzgerald Park.
There is one other Limerick City derby on Tuesday as Garryowen and St Mary’s go head to head at Dooradoyle.
The North Munster Under 20 League begins with Old Crescent playing UL Bohemian at Annacotty and Newcastle West entertain Bruff in a County Limerick derby. Garryowen welcome Clanwilliam to Dooradoyle and Shannon and Young Munster lock horns in a Limerick City derby at Coonagh.
The Moss Keane Memorial Cup takes place in Killarney on Saturday as the host Club mark the official opening of their new grounds at Aghadoe. The other participating sides are Tralee, Corca Dhuibhne, Castleisland, Killorglin and Iveragh.
Youghal mark the official opening of their new clubhouse/dressing room complex with a festival of rugby on Saturday.
