Weekend Club Preview And Fixtures

The 2016/17 season gets underway this week with the opening rounds of the Limerick Charity Cup and Transfield Cup.

This evening's scheduled fixture between Limerick Charity Cup holders Young Munster and UL Bohemian, in the first quarter final at Tom Clifford Park has been postponed with the rescheduled fixture to be announced. The winners will be away to Thomond or Nenagh Ormond, who go head to head at New Ormond Park on Saturday, in the semi-finals.

Last season’s finalists Old Crescent take on Garryowen at Dooradoyle on Saturday. The winners will be away to the winners of next Wednesday’s fourth quarter final between Bruff and Shannon, which takes place at Kilballyowen Park.

There are four Transfield Cup first round ties down for decision on Sunday and a fifth tie between Garryowen and Newcastle West at Dooradoyle on Monday evening.

Holders Richmond begin their defence of the trophy against Young Munster at Tom Clifford Park. The winners will be rewarded with a home tie against St Mary’s.

Last season’s finalists UL Bohemian are away to Thomond. The winners will be away to Shannon or Old Crescent, who lock horns at Coonagh.

Presentation travel to Abbeyfeale, with the winners meeting Garryowen or Newcastle West, in the quarter finals.
