Weekend Club Preview And Fixtures

It is a relatively quiet weekend over the festive season with the annual St Stephen’s Day matches in Cork and Limerick, two senior finals on Saturday and a rescheduled Munster Junior League Division 1 tie on Sunday.

On St Stephen’s Day, Cork Constitution will be looking to maintain their recent good run in the Crowley Cup as they entertain UCC at Temple Hill.

In Limerick, Old Crescent take on Young Munster in their annual Kelly Cup tie at Rosbrien.

The big game of the weekend sees Cork Constitution taking on Garryowen in the Munster Senior Cup decider at Irish Independent Park, with the Temple Hill side seeking a third successive title . This is a repeat pairing of last year’s decider which the Leeside Club won in controversial circumstances at Thomond Park. The Limerick side, who lead the way with 38 titles, are seeking a first triumph since the 2011-12 season.

A new name will be inscribed on the Cyril Fitzgerald Senior Plate in succession to Nenagh Ormond as Sunday’s Well and Shannon contest the decider at Woodleigh Park with a 6.30pm kick off. This is the third season that this competition has been run and it was won by the North Tipperary Club in its first two seasons.

The only game of the Munster Junior League sees Galbally entertaining Kilfeacle in a rescheduled game in Division 1 at the County Limerick venue. The home side, who are 11th will be looking to make the most of home advantage count in a bid to preserve their top flight status. Sixth-placed Kilfeacle will be looking to bounce back from their recent defeat by Premier County neighbours Clonmel in the Junior Clubs’ Challenge Cup semi final and record their first away League win.
