It is a busy weekend of league action in both the Ulster Bank League and Munster Junior League.
Cork Constitution and Garryowen lock horns at Temple Hill in Division 1A of the Ulster Bank League with both sides aiming for a top four finish. Both sides are coming off the back of victories and Con’ will be looking to make the most of home advantage count in a bid to avenge September’s 23-19 defeat at Dooradoyle.
Young Munster, who are third face a tough assignment as they welcome second-placed UCD to Tom Clifford Park. Both sides are cashing a top four finish and UCD ran out 56-22 winners when these sides met in the Capital.
Dolphin and UL Bohemian go head to head in a basement clash at Irish Independent Park in Division 1B. The Leesiders, who ran out 28-13 winners when these sides met in Limerick, will be aiming to grind out another valuable win and take another step closer to avoiding a second successive relegation.
Shannon entertain leaders St Mary’s College at Thomond Park and the Limerick side will have their work cut out as they were defeated 45-12 at Templeville Road in September.
Struggling Thomond host second-placed Banbridge at Liam Fitzgerald Park in Division 2A. The Limerick side will be aiming to make life difficult for the County Down side as they seek to record their first win since they defeated Skerries at the same venue in January.
Cashel, who have slipped to sixth following their 16-6 defeat by Naas last time out, will be looking to get back to winning ways as they host Skerries, who are hovering above the drop zone. The Tipperary side recorded a narrow 43-40 victory when these sides met at Holmpatrick in September.
Premier County neighbours Nenagh Ormond, who have climbed up to fourth place following their 14-7 home win over high flying Banbridge, travel to Belfast to take on Queens University. The North Tipperary side will be looking to make it two wins out of two as they recorded a 36 -13 home win over the Belfast students earlier in the season.
UCC host leaders Naas and the students face a tricky task as they aim to continue their quest for promotion and avenge September’s 34-27 defeat at the County Kildare venue.
Sunday’s Well make the long trip north to Foyleside to take on leaders City of Derry in the game of the day in Division 2B. This will be a tricky task for the ‘Well if they are to avenge their 23-18 defeat in September. The Ulster side will be looking to get back to winning ways following their 19-16 away defeat by Armagh last time out.
Highfield, who have slipped to fourth following their narrow 14-13 defeat by Greystones at Mahon welcome fifth-placed Armagh to Woodleigh Park. The home side will be looking to make the most of home advantage count to get their promotion aspirations back on track and make it two wins out of two over the Northerners.
Division 2C leaders Old Crescent will be expected to claim the points from their home meeting with Kanturk and Midleton will have it all to do against Wanderers at the Aviva Stadium.
Bruff will be aiming to maintain their challenge for a top four finish as they host Navan, who they defeated 17-15 in the Royal County in September.
In the Munster Junior League, the two pace setters in Division 3 get the show on the road against Kerry opposition on Saturday.
Crosshaven, who clinched promotion with their home win over Fermoy last time out, will be looking to complete their League campaign on a winning note as they travel to the Kingdom to take on Killarney.
Youghal are at home to third-placed Killorglin under lights at the East Cork venue, where a draw will suffice to guarantee promotion for Youghal.
In Division 1 on Sunday, Clonmel will be expected to claim maximum points from their home meeting against struggling Clonakilty and take another step closer to retaining their title.
Second-placed Bandon will be expected to get the better of Muskerry at Old Chapel and third-placed Galbally make the short trip to Tipperary Town to take on Clanwilliam, with the County Limerick side seeking a top four finish.
Richmond entertain Kilfeacle and this will be a tough assignment for the home side who have had their last two league games postponed, while Kilfeacle are coming off the back of a narrow 15-13 home defeat by Clonmel.
Old Christians, who are hovering above the drop zone, will have their work cut out as they entertain Newcastle West, who grounded out a valuable away win against Waterpark at Ballinakill.
St Senan’s host Waterpark in a basement clash and sixth-placed Skibbereen are away to bottom side St Mary’s.
Cobh Pirates and Abbeyfeale lock horns in a top of the table clash in Division 2 with the West Limerick side holding a four point lead over the ‘Pirates and seeking to preserve their unbeaten record.
Thurles still in with a chance of promotion make the short journey to Newport and should collect the points.
Dungarvan, who are propping up the table and still seeking their first win entertain fellow strugglers Tralee, who haven’t won since they defeated Charleville 25-20 at the North Cork venue in late October.
Mallow, who are hovering above the drop zone face a tough assignment as they travel to South Cork to take on third-placed Kinsale and Ennis, whose only victory was against Tralee in November are away to Ballincollig.
There are two mid-table clashes as Charleville entertain Castleisland at Smith’s Road and Presentation are at home to Waterford City.
There will be nothing more than pride at stake in Sunday’s games in Division 3 as Fermoy welcome Chorca Dhuibhne to the Showgrounds and Douglas-Carrigaline are away to Fethard.
