Garryowen beat Old Crescent in Limerick Charity Cup as both Young Munster and Nenagh Ormond received walk overs and reach the semi finals.
Garryowen advanced to the semi final of the Limerick Charity Cup with a deserved 24-18 win over Old Crescent at Dooradoyle.
A try from Andrew O’Byrne and a conversion and a penalty by Neil Cronin gave the home side a 10-6 half time lead with Shane O’Brien kicking two penalties for the visitors.
A try from Joey Purcell converted by Cronin extended Garryowen’s lead.
Larry Hanly kept Old Crescent in touch with a try to leave it 17-11.
Tim Ferguson scored Garryowen’s third try which Cronin converted, before in the closing stages the visitors were awarded a penalty try and O’Brien added the extras.
Garryowen will now face the winners of the Bruff Shannon tie in the semi final.
Holders Richmond defeated Young Munster 14-10 in their opening game in the Transfield Cup. Darren Gallagher and Ryan Meagher scored tries for Richmond and Brian Bennett converted both.
Presentation caused an upset at Abbeyfeale where they defeated the home side 16-15. Michael D’Arcy and Conor McMahon scored tries for Pres’ and Shane O’Brien added two penalties.
Eoin McInerney and Pat Murphy replied with tries for Abbeyfeale and Tom Hassett kicked a conversion and a penalty.
Waterpark defeated Fethard 24-9 in the Garryowen Cup. Scott Hornibrook and Richie Hally scored tries for Waterpark and Johnny Flynn kicked four penalties and one conversion.
