Weekend Fixtures Preview

It is the Munster Junior League that dominates the weekend’s program with some vital games at both ends of the Table in Division One.

Current leaders Skibbereen face their toughest task to date when they travel to Galbally. The County Limerick side lost their unbeaten record last week away to Waterpark and will be very anxious to bounce back with a win as another defeat would be a big blow to their title chances. Skibbereen have been far from impressive but have been grinding out results and will do well to get something from this tie.

Second placed Richmond had to rely on the boot of Jonathon Ford last week to defeat Crosshaven. They have a home tie against St. Senan’s and the Clare side have proved to be no easy push over this season. The Shannon Town side will test Richmond but the home side should win but may not pick up a valuable bonus point.

Kanturk in third place are at home to Thurles. The Tipperary side caused an upset last week with their first win at home to Kilfeacle. This is a game Kanturk should win but if they are to be serious challengers then they must collect all five points.

Waterpark boosted by that win over Galbally last week travel to Clanwilliam in a confident mood. The Tipperary side have suffered two heavy beatings in the last two games and will be anxious to stop the rot but an away victory looks likely.

Clonmel still in the hunt for honours have a home tie against Tralee. The Kerry side are still seeking their first win but are unlikely to get it at the Tipperary venue.

Kilfeacle after their surprise defeat by Thurles last week are at home to Crosshaven a side they beat earlier in the season in the Clubs Challenge Cup. Crosshaven have improved in recent weeks and were unlucky to lose at home last week to Richmond. If the visitors can reproduce their current form then they should return home with the spoils.

There is also a bottom of the table clash at Cobh when Old Christians are the visitors. Cobh have a two point advantage and there should be little between them at the finish.

There are three refixed games in the Second Division all affecting the bottom of the table. Newport are at home to Killarney and the Tipperary side desperately need the points to move away from the foot of the table.

Ballincollig are at home to Scariff and both sides with one victory will be all out to get another win and move away from the danger zone.

Muskerry who have slipped down the table in recent weeks are at home to Bandon and they will be anxious to halt their slide down the table by collecting the points.

Dungarvan can go top in the Third Division with a home win over Dunmanway as leaders Killorglin are without a game.

Carrick-on-Suir entertain Waterford City and both these sides are still in a challenging position for promotion. This will be a big test for the home side with the odds favouring Waterford to take the points.

Charleville can keep their challenge on track with a home victory over Corca Dhuibhne.

Fermoy will be anxious to continue their recent revival with another win at home to Abbeyfeale, while Douglas will face a tough task away to Bantry Bay.
