St Senan’s caused a major upset in their opening tie in the Munster junior Clubs Challenge Cup when they travelled to Crosshaven and defeated the home side 40-15

St. Senan's ran in five tries with Stephen Ryan getting two and Aaron Skerritt, Neal McDonogh and Darragh McCoy one apiece. Declan Collins kicked three penalties and three conversions. Ian Smith, Eamon Ring and Chris Lordan replied with tries for Crosshaven.

In the other rearranged opening round game Cobh Pirates defeated Clanwilliam 18-9. A try by John Barry Murphy and a conversion and penalty by Eoghan Geary gave the home side a10-3 half time lead. Ciaran Duignan added a second try for the Pirates and Geary kicked another penalty. Brian Kissane replied with three penalties for the Tipperary side.

Old Christians booked their semi final place with a 31-22 home win over Newcastle West. Stuart Lee, Darragh Daly, Tom Maher and Chris O’Donnell scored tries for the Rathcooney side and Max Castell kicked four conversions and a penalty. Newcastle West replied with tries from Alan Roche and Richard Langford and Conor Whelan kicked three penalties and two conversions.

The other quarter final tie between Waterpark and Richmond was postponed due to bereavement in The Richmond club.

All five ties in the opening round of the Munster Junior Clubs Shield went ahead but the two newly promoted clubs Carrick-on-Suir and Dungarvan both lost. Dungarvan were beaten 27-14 at home to Castleisland. Liam Sheehan and Cian Walsh scored tries for Dungarvan and the visitors replied with tries from Thomas O’Sullivan, Mike O’Sullivan, Mike Cronin and Pat O’Leary. Sean Riordan kicked two conversions and a penalty.

Three penalties from Charlie Boland gave Carrick-on-Suir a 9-0interval lead away to Thurles but the home side hit back with three tries for a 19-9 victory.

Kinsale got the better of Bandon in their local derby tie at Kinsale in their opening round tie on a 22-13 scoreline. Robbie O’Flynn was Kinsale’s try scorer and Peter Murphy kicked a conversion and five penalties. Gearoid Crowley replied with a try for Bandon and Jerry Crowley kicked a conversion and two penalties.

Mallow got the better of Killarney in a hard fought game with a 13-6 victory. A try from Frank Thornton and a Dave Walsh penalty had Mallow 8-3 ahead at half time and Andy Cashman added a try after the break for the winners. Paudie Sheahan replied with two penalties for the visitors.

Youghal travelled to Newport and defeated the Tipperary side 17-9. Jimmy Barron and Keith McCarthy scored tries for the East Cork side and McCarthy converted both and also added a penalty. Philip O’Brien replied with three penalties for the home side.

Ballincollig defeated Corca Dhuibhne 43-10 in their opening game in the Martin O’Sullivan Cup. Padraig Flynn scored three tries for the winners and Paudge Bohane, Andy Coughlan, Glen Murphy and Shane Kavanagh each scored one. Denis Galvin and Kevin Ryan each kicked two conversions. Aodh O’Tuama and Shane Griffin replied with tries for the West Kerry Gaeltacht side.

Waterford City travelled to Dunmanway and defeated Dunmanway-Bantry Bay 22-6. Jason Power and Paddy Halloran scored tries for the winners who were also awarded a penalty try. Aaron Foskin kicked a penalty and two conversions. Dan McSweeney replied with two penalties for the home side.

Bruff defeated Thomond 10-7 in their North Munster Seconds League tie. Thomond led 7-0 at half time but a try from Timmy Quirke and a conversion and penalty by Brian Carroll secured the points for the home side.

A try by George French converted by Dave Eustace earned Highfield a share of the spoils in their 7-7 draw with Midleton in the Munster Seconds League.

Mitchelstown won the Muskerry Cup final defeating Bandon 18-10 in the final at Ballyanly. Michael Maher and Pat Molloy scored tries for the winners and Pat McGee kicked two penalties and a conversion. Giles Murphy and Brian O’Driscoll replied with tries for Bandon.

Dolphin and Cork Constitution will meet in next weeks Dennehy Cup final after the Musgrave Park side defeated Carrigaline 24-10 in their semi final tie. Dave Griffin scored two tries for the winners and Michael Mullane got one. Mark Long converted all three tries and also added a penalty. Kieran Kelleher and Ray Donoghue replied with tries for Carrigaline.

Bruff advanced to the semi finals of the McInerney Cup with a 30-14 home win over Shannon. John McCarthy, Mike Cooke, John Mitchell and TJ Coffee scored tries for the winners and Eoin Quinn kicked two penalties and two conversions.
