Weekend Preview

A busy weekend for Cork Constitution as all their three adult sides are in cup action this weekend, two of them in finals.

Cork Constitution take on St Mary’s College in the final of the All Ireland Bateman Cup at Templeville Road on Saturday as they go in search of the only national title to have eluded them in their 121-year history.
When these sides met in the AIL, both sides recorded away wins with Con’ defeating ‘Mary’s 22-13 in January and the Dublin side running out 30-12 winners on Leeside a month later.

The final series of games in Division 1B of the Ulster Bank League are down for decision with nothing much at stake as both promotion and relegation issues have been decided. Bruff entertain Buccaneers at Kilballyowen Park. The Athlone side recorded a 32-10 home win over Bruff in November.

The Munster Junior Cup semi-finals are down for decision as holders Cork Constitution take on Skibbereen at Temple Hill in a repeat of last year’s decider which the Lilywhites won on a 13-10 score line at Musgrave Park.

Munster Junior League champions Richmond, who regained senior status last week, are at home to Garryowen in the other semi-final and this should a cracking tie.

In North Munster the O’Carroll Plate decider is at Kilballyowen Park when Bruff take on holders Newcastle West.

On Monday night Thomond take on Richmond in the Webb Cup final at Rosbrien.

In Kerry, Tralee and Castleisland travel to Listowel to contest the McElligott Cup decider, with Castleisland hoping to pick up silverware after last week’s narrow defeat by Killarney in the Munster Junior Plate Final.

There are two finals down for decision in Tipperary as Mansergh Cup holders Clonmel take on Nenagh Ormond at Clanwilliam Park and Cashel play Kilfeacle in the Gleeson Memorial Cup final in Galbally.

Down South the top two teams Carrigaline and Cork Constitution contest the Junior Two Cup final at Musgrave Park. These sides met in the league decider which Carrigaline won 10-0.

In the Dave Dineen Cup semi-finals, Cashel take on Skibbereen at the Spafield on Saturday and holders Dolphin are at home to Waterpark in the second semi-final on Sunday.

Fermoy and Muskerry are contesting two deciders at Musgrave Park in the space of three days as their Junior 3 sides contest the McCarthy Cup final on Sunday morning and their Junior 1 sides meet in the O’Neill Cup decider next Tuesday evening.
