Weekend Preview

The Charity Cups in Cork and Limerick continue this weekend with the semi finals in both competitions down for decision.

In the Cork Charity Cup Cork Constitution entertain Highfield at Temple Hill in the first semi final on Friday evening and after their big win over Sunday’s Well last week the home side will be expected to advance.

Surprise packet Cashel will be looking to make the most of home advantage as they take on Midleton at the Spafield in a bid to qualify for their first decider. The Tipperary side will also be looking build on their recent victory against holders Dolphin, which ended the Musgrave Park side’s quest for a third successive title.

UL Bohemian continue their defence of the Limerick Charity Cup with a home tie against Old Crescent, while Shannon take on Young Munster at Coonagh following The Cookies 30-16 victory over Richmond on Tuesday evening.

Garryowen and Ennis get proceedings underway in the Transfield Cup at Dooradoyle on Friday evening.

There are three ties down for decision on Sunday as holders Newcastle West begin their defence of the trophy with a home tie against Shannon.

St. Mary’s take on Old Crescent in a Limerick City derby at Corbally and Thomond entertain Bruff at Liam Fitzgerald Park.

On Monday evening, UL Bohemian and Young Munster go head to head at Annacotty.

The Garryowen Cup continues as Waterford City take on Clonmel at Kilbarry on Friday evening and neighbours Waterpark entertain Thurles at Ballinakill on Sunday.

There are also two Tipperary derbies down for decision as Newport entertain Kilfeacle at Freigh Park and Cashel welcome Nenagh Ormond to the Spafield.

There is a full series of quarter finals in the Dennehy Cup and two quarter finals in the Muskerry Cup on Sunday.

In the Dennehy Cup, Sunday’s Well take on Muskerry at Musgrave Park and Mallow have a home tie with Kinsale. Cork Constitution travel to West Cork to play Bandon and 2011 winners Old Christians are at home to Cobh Pirates.

Dolphin and Highfield lock horns at Musgrave Park and Cork Transport welcome Midleton to the Corn Field in the Muskerry Cup.

The Shane Geoghegan 10's Competition will take place this Saturday September 7th in Dooradoyle. The one-day tournament will host different competitions including a men’s competition with sixteen teams participating in it, an U12s competition with fifteen teams involved and a match between a Munster and Leinster selection involving adults with intellectual disabilities.

This year all proceeds from the day will go to the Garryowen Lions coached by former Irish International Neville Furlong. The Garryowen Lions are a Tag Rugby team established by the Daughters of Charity Service Limerick and supported by Garryowen Football Club to provide adults with an intellectual disability from Limerick City and County with the opportunity to play and enjoy Rugby in the Community
