The 2024/25 season gets underway this weekend with a full program of games in the Bank of Ireland Munster Senior Challenge Cup.

There is also local action at Junior level in North Munster, Kerry, Tipperary and Waterford.

Bank of Ireland Munster Senior Challenge Cup holders Garryowen and past three-in-a-row winners Young Munster, get the show on the road, as they meet at Dooradoyle on Friday evening in a Group 2 clash.

On Saturday, Highfield, whose only triumphs were in 1966 and 1968, welcome 2023 beaten finalists Nenagh Ormond to Woodleigh Park in a Group 1 clash.

Also in this group Shannon go head to head with AIL champions Cork Constitution at Coonagh

UL Bohemian, who last won the trophy in 1962 as Bohemian, entertain Cashel at Annacotty in a Group 3 clash. The Tipperary side qualified for the semi-finals in 2005, but lost to Dolphin, when they were still a Junior Club.

In the other tie in this group Clonmel welcome Bruff to South Tipperary and Old Crescent lock horns with Dolphin at Takumi Park in the only game in Group 4.

There is one tie down for decision in the Transfield Cup as Shannon welcome Abbeyfeale to Coonagh on Saturday with a 5pm kick off. The winners will be rewarded with a home quarter final tie against Old Crescent.

In the Premier County, there are three ties down for decision in the Mansergh Cup.

Fethard lock horns with Cashel in South Tipperary, Kilfeacle host Clonmel and Nenagh Ormond entertain Clanwilliam.

In Kerry, Abbeyfeale and Tralee get proceedings underway in their McElligott Cup opener at Castleisland.

On Sunday, Killorglin go head to head with Listowel at the Mid Kerry venue and Chorca Dhuibhne welcome Killarney to the West Kerry Gaeltacht.

There are two Casey Cup dies down for decision in Waterford as Waterpark welcome Carrick-on-Suir to Ballinakill on Saturday and on Sunday, Waterford City host Dungarvan.
