Weekend Preview

There is a full program of games in the Second Division of the Ulster Bank League as well as in the Munster Junior League next weekend.

The big game in Division 2A of the Ulster Bank League is the bottom of the table clash between Midleton and Clonakilty at the East Cork venue. Clonakilty have yet to record a win in this campaign and are five points below their opponents. Midleton with only one victory also need the points and try and close the gap on the sides above them. It should be a close contest with Midleton likely to shade it by a narrow margin.

Both Old Crescent and Thomond are in mid table. Old Crescent put up a credible performance last week away to Queens and this week they entertain Greystones who are still in a position to challenge for promotion.

Thomond face tricky encounter away to Seapoint and will do well to at least come away with something from this tie.

There is a local derby at Cashel as the Division 2B leaders entertain Nenagh Ormond. The visitors are seven points behind the leaders but only two behind second placed Rainey and cannot afford to let this gap widen.

Highfield travel to Boyne in a confident mood after three successive victories and will fancy their chances of another win.

Sunday’s Well have slipped down the table in recent weeks and face another difficult task this week when they travel to Kildare to face NUIM Barnhall who have moved up to third place. The odds must be on a home victory.

The big game in Division One of the Munster Junior League is the meeting of leaders Richmond at home to second placed Skibbereen. The west Cork side still remain unbeaten and are just two points behind Richmond with a game in hand. Richmond have not been playing to their true potential in recent weeks and the visitors will be happy to come away from this game with their unbeaten record in tact.

Kanturk who are in third place five points behind the leaders are at home to St. Senan’s and can expect a difficult time from the Clare side.

Galbally whose challenge received a setback last week with that defeat by Old Christians travel to Clanwilliam anxious to get back to winning ways.

Clonmel are at home to Crosshaven and realistically the Tipperary side’s target now must be a top four finish and they should collect the points against a Crosshaven side that have struggled this season.

Cobh Pirates who eased their relegation worries last week with away win over Tralee will be confident of picking up the points at home to bottom side Thurles.

Tralee entertain Old Christians and both these sides need the points to avoid being dragged into a relegation battle in the new year.

Kilfeacle will feel they are due a change of luck as they entertain a young Waterpark side.

Second Division leaders Mallow travel to Kinsale a side that have moved up to third place seven points adrift. A win for Kinsale would open up the promotion race but Mallow should continue their unbeaten run with an eight successive win.

St Mary’s in second place are at home to struggling Ballincollig and the Corbally side will be looking to pick up a scoring bonus point from this tie.

Presentation will hope to bounce back after last week’s defeat by Mallow with a home win over Bandon.

Newcastle West travel to Scariff hoping to keep their promotion challenge alive.

Newport who share bottom place with Bandon are at home to Muskerry who are also desperately in need of points to stay clear of relegation trouble.

In the other ties Castleisland entertain Ennis and Killarney are at home to Youghal.

After two successive defeats Killorglin will be anxious to get back to winning ways with a home win in Division Three over Carrick-on-Suir.

Charleville should collect the points at home to Dunmanway, but Fermoy could face a tricky encounter at home to Douglas.

Abbeyfeale travel to Kilrush confident of continuing their recent good run.

WaterfordCity make the long journey to Bantry.
