Weekend Preview

Another busy weekend of league action with a full program of games in the Ulster Bank League as well as the opening series of games in the All Ireland Provincial League Championship. The final series of games in Division Two and Three of the Munster Junior League will also be decided on Sunday.

In Division 1A of the Ulster Bank League Garryowen and Young Munster get proceedings underway in the Friday Night Lights clash at Dooradoyle and the home side will be looking to record their second win over ‘Munsters as they defeated their neighbours 21-12 at Tom Clifford Park in November.

Bottom side UL Bohemian face a tricky task in their battle against the drop as they take on leaders Lansdowne at Annacotty.

Dolphin are away to second-placed Clontarf and Cork Constitution will be looking to make the most of home advantage count as they welcome Old Belvedere to Temple Hill in a bid to avenge last November’s 44-13 defeat by the Dublin side at Anglesea Road.

Shannon are in the Capital as they take on St Mary’s College at Templeville Road.

Bruff take on Dungannon in their basement clash in Division 1B at Kilballyowen Park and the South Limerick side will be looking to avenge last November’s narrow 12-10 defeat by the Tyrone side at Stevenson Park and pick up valuable points in their bid to avoid the drop to Division 2.

In Division 2A Midleton are away to Bective Rangers and the game will be Jason Holland’s last game for the club as he flys back to New Zealand on Monday. Both sides are hovering above the drop zone and Midleton who are hit by injuries must win to have any chance of avoiding relegation.

Cashel take on Galwegians in a mid-table encounter at Crowley Park.

The game of the day in Division 2B sees Thomond and Clonakilty go head to head at Liam Fitzgerald Park with both sides looking to preserve their senior status and avoid a return to Junior ranks.

Sunday’s Well are away to third-placed Naas and Nenagh Ormond entertain struggling Ards at the North Tipperary venue.

Richmond get their bid to qualify for the All Ireland League for the second time in their history underway as they take on perennial Connacht champions Monivea at Richmond Park.

The only game in the Munster Junior Cup sees Clanwilliam host near neighbours Clonmel in the last sixteen and the winners will be at home to Munster Junior League champions Richmond in the quarter finals.

Muskerry meet Castleisland at Ellis Park and a win for the Sky Blues will see them regain top spot and be crowned champions of Division Two of the Munster Junior League, but Castleisland can get promoted in a must win game for them.

Mallow currently lead the table but have all their games completed.

Newport will be looking to make the most of home advantage as they take on Ennis in their bid to avoid the drop.

Fellow strugglers and Premier County neighbours Thurles have a tricky task on their hands as they are away to Killarney and Carrick-on-Suir are away to Bandon.

In other ties Kinsale are at home to Dungarvan, who have already been relegated and Youghal welcome Presentation to the East Cork venue.

The Division Three title could be decided at Tanner Park as second-placed Ballincollig take on leaders Killorglin with ‘Collig looking to make a quick return to Division 2 and the Kerry side seeking their first promotion.

Fermoy are away to Abbeyfeale and Waterford City are away to Scariff, with Fermoy and City requiring maximum points to keep their promotion aspirations on track.

Douglas take on bottom side Dunmanway-Bantry at the South Cork venue.
