Weekend Preview And Fixtures

The Ulster Bank All Ireland League resumes this weekend together with the concluding series of games in Divisions 2A, 2B and the All Ireland Provincial Championship.

In Division 1A, Dolphin are hovering just above the drop zone, face a tricky task as they visit Old Belvedere at Anglesea Road. Belvo ran out 22-10 winners when these sides met in January and with the Dublin side still in the hunt for the title, Dolphin could be in for a busy afternoon.

Cork Constitution travel to Limerick to take on Young Munster at Tom Clifford Park and the Lilywhites will be looking to avenge January’s 16-10 defeat when these sides met at Temple Hill.

Bottom side Garryowen look like they will be relegated travel to the Capital to take on St Mary’s College at Templeville Road and if the Dooradoyle side have any hopes of avoiding the drop they must win their final two games with a bonus point and overturn a 115 points difference if they are to survive. The Dublin side recorded a 24-15 victory at Dooradoyle earlier in the season.

UL Bohemian travel to Athlone to take on second-placed Buccaneers in Division 1B and the Limerick side will have their work cut out if they aim to make it two wins out of two as they ran out 31-16 winners over Buccaneers at Annacotty in December to keep their slim promotion hopes alive.

Shannon entertain struggling Malone at Thomond Park and the home side will be looking to record a second victory as they defeated the Belfast side on a 19-18 scoreline at Gibson Park.

UCC, who are in second place in Division 2A, will be looking to make the most of home advantage count in their bid for promotion as they entertain fourth-placed City of Derry at the Mardyke. A bonus point victory will guarantee College promotion. With both Ballymena a point behind the students and City of Derry three points further back a variety of results could decide the second promotion spot.

Highfield entertain Bective Rangers and must win to have any hope of avoiding the relegation play off. Naas and Seapoint are three points better off than Highfield and one of these must lose if Highfield are to avoid an extra game.

Old Crescent already relegated travel to Queens University, while Cashel entertain bottom side Bruff in their final game.

Division 2B champions Nenagh Ormond make the long trip to County Down to take on Ards and will hope to finish the Campaign unbeaten.

Second-placed Thomond who are level on points with both Skerries and Greystones but have a better points difference travel to Kirwan Park to take on DLSP and must get a similar result as their main challengers to clinch the second promotion place.

Sunday’s Well will have their work cut out as they take on Greystones at Musgrave Park, with the Wicklow side chasing a place in the promotion play-off.

Midleton welcome City of Armagh to Towns Park and Richmond are at home to Navan in mid-table clashes.

The final series of games in the Provincial League are down for decision and Kanturk will be looking to make the most of home advantage count against Clogher Valley as they aim to qualify for a play-off with Instonians to determine whether or not the Duhallow Club will play in the AIL next season.

There is one game in the Northern section of the Munster Junior Cup down for decision as Thomond entertain Newcastle West at Liam Fitzgerald Park. The winners will be away to Clanwilliam in the quarter finals.

The Munster Junior Plate continues with Presentation taking on Old Crescent in a Limerick City derby in the quarter finals.

There are three second round ties down for decision as St Mary’s welcome Waterpark to Grove Island, with the winners away to Ennis in the quarter finals.

Shannon are at home to Waterford City and the winners will have a home quarter final against Cobh Pirates.

Bruff and Tralee go head to head at Kilballyowen Park with the winners at home to Bandon.

There is a Tipperary derby in Division 2 of the Munster Junior League which sees bottom side Newport taking on Thurles and Newport need two points to move off the bottom of the table and possibly avoid relegation should Kanturk qualify for the All Ireland League.

Old Christians welcome Skibbereen to Rathcooney in the Junior Clubs Challenge Cup quarter finals with the winners at home to St Mary’s.

In the Munster Junior Clubs Challenge Shield quarter final Bandon entertain Killarney at Old Chapel with the winners at home to Clanwilliam in the semi finals.

Ballincollig are at home to Charleville in the Martin O’Sullivan Cup quarter finals with the winners away to Dungarvan.

Douglas and Fermoy meet at Moneygourney and the winners will be at home to Carrick-on-Suir in the other semi final.

Muskerry are at home to Clonakilty in the first semi final of the Cork County Cup.
