Weekend Preview And Fixtures

Another busy weekend of action with a Senior Plate Final as well as seven munster Junior Cup ties.

The ODM Cyril Fitzgerald Plate Final is down for decision on Friday evening as holders Nenagh Ormond take on Young Munster at New Ormond Park.

The Ulster Bank All Ireland Provincial League qualifying series continues this Saturday.

Munster Junior League winners Kanturk will be looking to make the most of home advantage count as they entertain former AIL side and Leinster champions Wanderers at the Duhallow venue. The home side will defiantly need to get something from this tie if they hope to finish in the top two places.

The final series of games in the regional phase of the Munster Junior Cup takes place with six ties down for decision. The winners will then be entered into an open draw for the quarter finals.

Holders Garryowen continue their defence of the trophy with a home tie against St Senan’s who have already won the Division 2 Munster Junior League title and are also due to contest the Munster Junior Clubs’ Challenge Shield decider.

Cork Constitution welcome Clonmel to Temple Hill and there is a local derby in Tipperary which sees Clanwilliam and Kilfeacle locking horns in Tipperary Town.

There are two Cork derbies in which UCC take on Clonakilty at the Mardyke and Skibbereen welcome Old Christians to the Carbery Showgrounds.

UL Bohemian face County Limerick neighbours Galbally at Annacotty.

The opening games in the Munster Junior Plate get under way with ties in both the first and second rounds.

In Round 1 Dungarvan make the long trip to the Kingdom to take on Tralee with the winners meeting Richmond or Bruff in the next stage.

Carrigaline, who are making their debut in the competition are away to Waterford City and the winners will be away to Shannon in Round 2.

Junior League Division 3 winners Ballincollig face a tricky task as they travel to Limerick to take on St Mary’s at Grove island. The winners of this tie will be at home to Killorglin or Waterpark who go head to head at the Mid Kerry venue on the back of disappointing campaigns in the Junior League.

In Round 2 Presentation, who won the trophy two years ago, take on Young Munster in a Limerick City derby at Rathuard. The winners will be at home to Old Crescent or Abbeyfeale in the quarter finals.

There are two Cork derbies in the second phase as Bandon entertain Charleville at Old Chapel and Cobh Pirates have a home tie against Douglas.

Highfield and Thomond meet in the quarter finals of the Munster Senior Seconds League with the winners meeting Cork Constitution at Temple Hill in the semi finals.
