Weekend Preview And Fixtures
26th August 2014 By Munster Rugby
The 2014/15 domestic rugby season kicks off this weekend with opening round games in the Cork and Limerick Charity Cups and the Mansergh Cup.
Dolphin and Kanturk get the show on the road in their Cork Charity Cup opener at Musgrave Park on Saturday. This is a historic occasion for the Duhallow side, who are making their debut in the competition, as this is their first ever match as a Senior Club. The winners will be rewarded with a home tie against Sunday’s Well in the semi finals.
Highfield and Midleton go head to head at Woodleigh Park, with the winners away to the winner of Sunday’s tie between Cashel and Cork Constitution, which takes place at the Spafield. The Cashel V Con’ tie is also doubling up as last season’s decider.
The Limerick Charity Cup gets underway as UL Bohemian entertain Young Munster at Annacotty on Saturday with the winners at home to Thomond in the quarter finals.
There are two first round ties in the Mansergh Cup as Waterford City and Waterpark go head to head in a local derby at Kilbarry. The winners will be away to Cashel in the quarter finals.
The other tie sees Nenagh Ormond locking horns with Premier County neighbours Thurles at New Ormond Park, with the winners meeting Fethard in the next round.
