Weekend Preview And Fixtures

The Ulster Bank All Ireland league continues this weekend with a handful of games across all four divisions.

In Division 1A third placed Cork Constitution will be looking to make it two wins out of two as they welcome struggling Ballynahinch to Temple Hill. Con’ ran out 24-17 winners when these sides met at Ballymacarn Park on the opening day of the campaign in September.

Dolphin entertain bottom side Garryowen at Musgrave Park and Garryowen will be aiming to get back to winning ways in their desperate bid to avoid relegation.

Dolphin ran out 30-13 winners when these sides met at Dooradoyle.

Young Munster take on St Mary’s College in a mid-table clash at Tom Clifford Park. The Limerick side were 26-18 winners at Templeville Road in September.

Shannon travel to Belfast to take on Belfast Harlequins in a mid-table encounter at Deramore Park in Division 1B. The Limerick side defeated ‘Quins 14-9 at Coonagh in November.

Fourth-placed UL Bohemian welcome basement side Dungannon to Limerick and they will be aiming to make it two wins out of two as they recorded a 29-13 away win over the Tyrone side earlier in the season.

In Division 2A there is a big game at the top of Division 2A that could decide which side will be promoted along with Galwegians. Ballymena currently lead College by three points and a win for the students would see them move into second spot with just one game left to play.

UCC will be aiming to collect maximum points from their home tie against second-placed Ballymena in a bid to keep their outside promotion hopes intact.

Richmond take on struggling Instonians in Division 2B at Richmond Park where a win for the home side would send Instonians into the play offs against the runners up in the Round Robin.

There are two games down for decision in the Munster Junior Cup as Dolphin welcome Cashel to Musgrave Park and the home side will be aiming to build on last weekend’s comprehensive home win over Killorglin and set up a home tie against Muskerry.

Old Christians host Mallow at Rathcooney. The North Cork side, who were relegated from the top flight of the Junior League after only one season, will be aiming to reverse their recent 11-10 league defeat by ‘Christians. The winners will be away to Skibbereen in the next round.

There is a full program of games in Divisions 2 and 3 of the Munster Junior League.
Division 2 champions and Junior Clubs’ Challenge Shield finalists St Senan’s welcome Crosshaven to Jimmy Slattery Park on Saturday.

On Sunday Ennis entertain Newport in a game that if Ennis get a point from both Newport and Killorglin will be relegated.

Killorglin are at home to Bandon and must win with a bonus point to have any chance of avoiding the drop.
There are two mid-table clashes as Thurles welcome Killarney to the Premier County and Youghal take on Presentation at the East Cork venue.

Division 3 leaders Ballincollig, who have already been promoted, face a tricky task as they travel to West Waterford to take on third-placed Dungarvan. Ballincollig just need a point from this tie to be assured of going up as champions of Division Three.

The other promoted side Abbeyfeale travel to North Cork to take on Fermoy and Douglas make the long trip to East Clare to take on Scariff.

There are two games down for decision in the Munster Junior Club’s Challenge Cup. Clonmel and Kilfeacle go head to head in a Premier County derby with the winners at home to holders and newly crowned League champions Kanturk in the quarter finals. Clonmel ran out 19-7 winners when these sides met at Kilfeacle in the League in October.

St Mary’s and Newcastle West go head to head at Corbally for the second time in the space of a month as Newcastle recorded a narrow 9-8 victory when these sides met at the same venue in the League. The winners will be away to Skibbereen or Old Christians in the semi finals.

In the Cork County Cup last season’s O’Neill Cup winners Muskerry entertain Midleton at the Mid Cork venue with the winners at home to Clonakilty in the semi finals.
