Weekend Preview And Fixtures
6th May 2015 By Munster Rugby
The curtain comes down on the domestic rugby season this weekend with two Munster finals to be decided.
After a thrilling game in Thomond Park last Sunday that finished in a 16-16 stalemate, Clonmel and Shannon will have to do it all again on Sunday at Irish Independent Park to decide the winners of this season’s Munster Junior Cup.
As expected the game came down to the battle of the kickers last week, with Ronan McKenna scoring all of Shannon’s points (try, conversion and three penalties), while Conor Cooney kicked three penalties and converted a try by Alex Sheehan for Clonmel.
It should be another close contest that will have to be decided on the day in what should attract a big attendance.
Highfield and Thomond meet at the PBC grounds at Wilton on Saturday in the final of the Tony O’Flynn Cup a competition for the league winners in both North and South Munster.
Both these sides have also won their respective Cup competitions so they will be going out for the grand slam at this level. Kick off at Wilton is 2.30.
