St. Mary’s have now a two point lead at the top of Division 1 in the Munster Junior League:

St. Mary’s extended their advantage in Division 1 after their 34-15 home win over Muskerry. The Cork side raced into an early 10-0 lead with a try from Lorcan Collins and a conversion and a penalty by Darragh Masterson. Tries from Ben Sargent and Matthew Ryan both converted by Sargent had the Corbally side 14-10 ahead at the break. Two tries by Brian Purcell and one by Ross Kelly and a conversion and penalty by Sargent extended the home side’s advantage before Ian O’Sullivan scored a late try for the visitors

Kanturk won the big game in Division 1 and moved into second place two points behind the leaders after their 34-15 away win over Clonmel.
Neville Melbourne opened the scoring with a try for Clonmel. Stephen McAuliffe and Brian Lonergan exchanged penalties before Kealon Buckley tied up the scores with a try for Kanturk. A try by Ronan Cross which Lonergan converted had the home side 15-8 at half time.
It was all Kanturk in the second half with Buckley, Dan McCabe, Luke McCabe and John Duggan all scoring tries and McAuliffe converted three of them.

Cobh Pirates extended their unbeaten run with a 13-11 home win over Kilfeacle. Kevin Allen scored a try for the Pirates and Eoin Geary converted and Greg Higgins kicked two penalties. Tom Doyle replied with a try for the Tipperary side and Gavin Heuston kicked two penalties.

Tralee continued their challenge with a 23-8 home win over Clonakilty. Dan O’Connor, Eoin O’Carroll and Liam Quaid scored tries for the winners and Garreth Walsh added two penalties and a conversion. Batt Duggan replied with a try for Clonakilty and Ciaran Calnan kicked a penalty.

Newcastle West defeated Skibbereen 16-10. Two penalties from Sean Herlihy gave Newcastle West a 6-0 interval lead. A try from James Kelly and a conversion and penalty by Herlihy extended the home side’s advantage. Skibbereen rallied in the final fifteen minutes to secure a losing bonus point with a try from David Shannon and a conversion and a penalty by Ger Hurley.

There were nine tries scored at Rathcooney on Saturday night when Old Christians defeated Waterpark 29-24. Shane Barry, Dave O’Driscoll, Peter Twohig, Eddie O’Connell and John O’Donoghue scored tries for the winners and Stuart Lee added two conversions. Paddy Kiersey, Eoin O’Connor, Scott Hornibrook and Gareth Molloy replied with tries for Waterpark and Colin O’Shea kicked two conversions.

Mallow recorded their first win in the top flight with an 8-5 home win over Galbally. The sides were level 5-5 at half time with Dave Walsh scoring Mallow’s try and Andy Cashman added a penalty.

The shock of the day was at Bandon when the home side ended Kinsale’s great start to the campaign in Division Two with a 6-3 victory. Richard Walsh was Bandon’s hero kicking two penalties and Peter Murphy replied with one for Kinsale.

St. Senan’s are now the new leaders in this Division after their 30-5 away win over Presentation. The Clare side trailed 5-0 at half time but three tries from Brian Collins and one from Neil McDonogh ensured a bonus point victory. Brian Rowe converted all four and added two penalties.

Killarney edged out Killorglin 19-14 in their derby game. Ger Moynihan scored a try for the winners and Paudie Sheahan kicked a conversion and four penalties. Noel O’Reilly and Brian Hayes replied with tries for Killorglin. Trevor West kicked a conversion and Dave Coffey two penalties.

Clanwilliam lost valuable ground when they were held to a 15-15 draw away to Youghal. Kieran Merrigan scored two tries for the Tipperary side and Brian Kissane kicked a conversion and a penalty. Scott O’Sullivan and Keith McCarthy replied with tries for Youghal and McCarthy added a conversion and a penalty

Waterford City defeated Castleisland 17-3. Cian Foskin and Tom Bowe scored tries for the winners and John Flynn converted both and also added a penalty. Connie Reynolds replied with a penalty for the Kerry side.

Crosshaven defeated Newport 19-11. Dave Walsh scored a try for Crosshaven and Ian Smith converted and added four penalties.

The game between Ennis and Thurles was postponed.

In the only game in Division Three Dungarvan defeated Carrick-on-Suir 22-13 in a fiery contest. Patrick Crowder scored a try for Dungarvan and Conor Foley converted and also added five penalties.

Cork Constitution continued their unbeaten run in the Munster Seconds League South with a 22-0 home win over Sunday’s Well. Cian O’Donnell, Cyprian Jouve and Andrew Dorgan were Con’s try scorers and Thomas Quinlan kicked two conversions and a penalty.

Charleville defeated Sunday’s Well 15-12 in the Junior Three South League. Peadar Cronin scored two tries for the winners and Paddy Coughlan kicked a conversion and a penalty.
