There were some surprises in the quarter-finals of the Limerick Charity Cup as Cork Constitution booked their place in the final of the Cork Charity Cup.

The big shock in the Limerick Charity Cup was Thomond’s 40-29 win over U.L. Bohemian at Annacotty. Thomond led 19-17 at half time but Bohes rallied to lead 29-19 early in the second half, before Thomond finished the stronger. Brendan Guilfoyle scored two tries for Thomond and Eoin O’Neill, Cian Coady, Leonard Slattery and Rory Collins got one each. Ben Sargent kicked five conversions.

Old Crescent and Nenagh Ormond who swapped places in the Ulster Bank League met at Rosbrien where Old Crescent came out on top 24-18. Felixstowe Ross and Alan Bennie scored tries for Old Crescent and Shane O’Brien kicked four penalties and a conversion. Mark Doyle and Ruairi O’Brien replied with tries for the Tipperary side and Donal Fogarty kicked two penalties and a conversion.

At Richmond Park Shannon defeated Richmond 27-14. David O’Donovan scored two tries for Shannon and Tadhg Bennett and Brian Downey got a try each. Bennett kicked a penalty and two conversions. Richmond replied with tries from Alex Simpson and Mike Kelleher with Stephen Clancy and Brian Mullins each kicking a conversion.

In the fourth tie Garryowen defeated Bruff 24-19.

The semi-final line up will see Shannon at home to Garryowen and Old Crescent will entertain Thomond.

Holders Cork Constitution booked their place in the Cork Charity Cup Final after a 20-14 home win over Highfield.

Early tries by James Ryan and James Murphy both converted by Darragh Lyons had Con’ 14-0 ahead after fifteen minutes.

A try by Kevin Foyle which he also converted left the visitors trailing 14-7 at half time.

Five minutes into the second half the sides were level when Miah Cronin scored a try for Highfield which Foyle converted.

Lyons kicked penalties on 55 and 62 minutes to put Con’ back in front and a late rally from Highfield failed to produce another score.

In the other semi-final Dolphin received a walkover from Sunday’s Well.

Bandon won the West Cork derby defeating Dunmanway 25-22 in the Dennehy Cup with two tries from Mark Phelan and one each from Scot Kingston and Andrew Willis. Willis kicked a conversion and Olan Crowley added a penalty.

Cobh Pirates overcame Sunday’s Well 32-14 at The Paddocks. Eoin McSweeney, Denis Kinevane, David Lambe and Jamie McDermott scored tries for Cobh and Ian Jones kicked two penalties and three conversions.
