Garryowen advanced to final of the Bateman Cup as Richmond move another step closer towards their third Munster Junior League title.

Garryowen booked their place in the final of the Ulster Bank Bateman Cup Final with a 14-3 away win over Buccaneers at Dubarry Park. A try by Adam O’Loughlin and two penalties by Fergal Lawlor gave the Light Blues an 11-3 interval lead. Jack Carthy scored a penalty for the home side. The only score of the second half was a third penalty from Lawlor.
Garryowen will now meet Ballymena in the final on Saturday 28th April.

Richmond have extended their lead at the top of the First Division of the Munster Junior League after a bonus point home victory over Clanwilliam 24-0. Richmond led 14-0 at the break with tries from Mike O’Friel and Sean Bennett, both of which Jonathon Ford converted. Gareth O’Hanlon and Jeff McNamara added tries in the second half.

Kanturk have moved into second place after they came from 7-0 down at half time to defeat Skibbereen in the top game of the day. Peter Stout scored a try for the west Cork side and David Shannon converted. However Skibb’ missed a few penalty chances after the break but three penalties from Darragh Meade saw Kanturk win out and they now trail Richmond by five points.

Galbally have moved up to third place after their 29-0 away win over Kilfeacle, a result which leaves the Tipperary side in great danger of being relegated. Tries from Danny Hayes and Kevin Casey gave Galbally a 10-0 interval lead. James Taylor, Tony Hennebry and Wayne McCarthy scored second half tries and Liam Casey kicked two conversions.

Thurles were relegated from the First Division for the first time in the club’s history after they lost 55-6 to Old Christians at Rathcooney. The winners scored nine tries with Conor Quaid and Conor Mangan getting two each and Alan O’Connell, Stuart Lee, John O’Flynn, Rob Stapleton and Paul McGrath also crossed the whitewash. Aidan Tobin kicked five conversions.

Clonmel ended their recent poor run with a 22-16 home win over Waterpark. The visitors led 13-10 at half time with a try from Murray Kinsella and a conversion and two penalties by Tom Kiersey. Kieran Burke and Greg Carroll replied with tries for Clonmel. The home side secured the bonus point with tries from David Lonergan and Stephen Pyke and Brian Lonergan added a conversion. Kiersey kicked a third penalty to give the Suirsiders a losing bonus point.

Tralee have moved up to fifth place after they collected maximum points with a 25-13 home win over Crosshaven. Eoin Murphy, Kevin O’Shea, Garrett Walsh and Ultan Dillane scored tries for the Kerry side and Walsh kicked a conversion and penalty. Paul Cogan and Eamon Ring replied with tries for Crosshaven and Daryl Foley kicked a penalty.

Cobh Pirates eased their relegation worries with a 21-14 home win over St. Senan’s. The sides were level 14-14 each at half time. Jack Hickey and John Kidney scored tries for Cobh and Eamon Ronan converted both. Senan’s were awarded a penalty try and had one from Patrick Ryan. Declan Collins converted both. Kevin Allen scored Cobh’s winning try after the break and Ronan converted.

Mallow remain top of the Second Division after their 13-6 away win over Killarney. A try by Ronan McCarthy which Mickey O’Flynn converted gave Mallow a 7-6 half time lead. O’Flynn kicked two penalties in the second half.

St. Mary’s defeated Bandon 32-19. The Saints had the bonus point wrapped up by half time. Tries from Brian Neiland, Sean Lyons, Sean Markham and Darren Clancy and three conversions from Lyons gave them a 26-0 interval lead. Bandon came more into the game in the second half with tries from Tim Crowley Cathal Crowley and Pat Prendergast. Cathal Crowley converted two of the tries and Lyons kicked two penalties for the Saints.

Kinsale kept their hopes of promotion alive with a 25-17 home win over fellow promotion challengers Presentation. An intercept try from Renaud Sergere in the final minute which he also converted denied the visitors a losing bonus point. Paul Perez was Kinsale’s other scorer with two tries, conversion and two penalties. Stephen Ryan scored two tries for the Limerick side and Brendan Coleman one. Shane O’Brien kicked a conversion.

Newcastle West kept up their promotion challenge with a 31-7 home win over Muskerry. Tries from James Kelly, Declan Moloney and Niall Kennedy all converted by Alan Roche gave the west Limerick side a 21-7 interval lead. Dave Hennessy replied with a try for Muskerry which Eoin Keohane converted. Michael O’Leary secured the bonus point with a try for the winners and Roche converted and also added a penalty.

Ballincollig lost their bottom of the table clash away to Newport 15-10. A try by Shane Kavanagh which Kevin Ryan converted gave the Cork side a 7-0 interval lead. Newport hit back with tries from Darragh Ryan and David Hickey and Philip O’Brien kicked a conversion and penalty. Ryan secured a losing bonus point for the visitors with a last minute penalty.

Castleisland defeated Youghal 23-16 in their mid table clash. William Casey scored two of the winner’s three tries and Shane Flynn the other. JJ Casey kicked two penalties and a conversion. Anthony Frahill O’Connor replied with a try for Youghal and Aaron Daly kicked a conversion and three penalties.

Ennis won the Clare derby defeating Scariff 18-3 for whom James Kelly kicked a penalty.

Dungarvan still remain top of Division Three despite losing for the second time when promotion chasing Carrick-on-Suir defeated them 29-25. Dungarvan led 25-7 at half time with two tries from Joey Lawlor and one from Olan Murray. Conor Foley kicked two conversions and two penalties. Ross Clery replied for Carrick with a try which Charlie Boland converted. However Carrick dominated the second half and tries from David Kiersey, Ed O’Donnell and Willie Wallace, two of which Boland converted who also kicked a penalty secured a valuable bonus point for the Tipperary side.

Killorglin moved up to second place after their 18-3 away win over Bantry Bay. Barry Sheehan and Darren Curtayne scored tries and Dave Coffey kicked a conversion and two penalties.

Fermoy defeated Waterford City in a thriller 33-32. A try by Stephen Dunne and a conversion and two penalties from Shane O’Riordan gave Fermoy a 13-7 interval lead. Jason Power replied with a try for Waterford and Darren Walsh converted. O’Riordan and Conor Ahern added further tries for Fermoy in the second half and O’Riordan kicked two conversions and two penalties. Waterford replied with tries from Niall Coady and Darren Walsh, who were also awarded a penalty try. Walsh kicked two conversions and Aaron Foskin two penalties.

Three tries from Gavin Curran and one each from Kieran Slattery and Eoin Murphy gave Corca Dhuibhne a 25-0 home win over Dunmanway.

Tries from Paul Conway and John Sexton both converted by Conway gave Kilrush their first win with a 14-10 home win over Douglas. Barry Hynes scored a try, conversion and penalty for the Cork side.

Bruff defeated Nenagh Ormond 29-7 in the North Munster Seconds League. Bruff led 22-0 at half time with tries from Nigel O’Riordan, Paul O’Brien and John Hogan. Barry Enright kicked two conversions and a penalty. Brian Carroll added another try which Enright converted after the break.

Young Munster collected maximum points with a 32-0 away win over U.L. Bohemian.

Dolphin bounced back after last week’s defeat in the Junior Two League South with a 15-5 home win over Old Christians. Tim Cotter and Neill Potts scored tries for Dolphin and Martin Aherne added a conversion and penalty.

Waterpark defeated Carrigaline 23-14. Jason Corkery scored a try for Carrigaline and John Tait kicked three penalties.

Cork Constitution remain top of their section of the Under 21 South Western Conference after their 35-6 home win over Highfield. Cathal Quinn scored two tries for the winners and Eoin O’Donnell, Dean Nolan and Simon Hanbidge got one each. Sean Og Murphy kicked two penalties and two conversions. Darragh O’Keeffe replied with two tries for the visitors.
