Three Junior clubs through to semi finals of Munster Junior Cup after two major shocks in the four quarter final ties played.

Fourteen men Galbally produced one of the upsets of the season when a last minute try from Eddie Fraher earned the Second Division leaders a 17-13 home win over Tralee.
The unbeaten County Limerick side had to play most of the game with fourteen players after one their players was shown a red card early in the game. They got off to a great start with a try from Shane Flavin after a minute and a second try by Frank Cussen converted by Darren Guerin made it 12-7 at the break. Danny Giles scored the visitors try and Gareth Walsh converted.
Two Walsh penalties looked like it was going to be enough to send the Kerry side through to the last four until Fraher’s late try.

Cashel booked their semi final place after they defeated Dolphin 39-3. The Tipperary side raced into an early 10-0 lead with a try from Conor Quinlan and a conversion and penalty by Darragh O’Brien. Cormac O’Flynn opened Dolphin’s account with a penalty, but a Pat O’Connor try and an O’Brien penalty left it 18-3 at half time.
Three late tries from Kevin Leamy, Pat O’Connor and Albie Devitt all converted by O’Brien completed the scoring.

Kilfeacle also caused an upset with a 16-15 home win over U.C.C. A try by Richard Tanner had the students 5-3 ahead at the break. Shane Luby kicked a penalty for the home side. Tries by Luby and Ian Burns in the second half and a Luby penalty saw the Tipperary side advance. College replied with a try by Barry Kelleher and a penalty and conversion from Luke Duffy.

Cork Constitution booked their place in the last four with a 45-23 victory over Garryowen at Temple Hill.
Eoin O’Donnell opened the scoring with a try for Constitution before Conor Kilroy and Peter O’Sullivan exchanged penalties. Robert Clune made it 15-3 with a try which O’Sullivan converted and a second Kilroy penalty left the home side with a nine point advantage at the break.
Clune scored his second try two minutes into the second half and O’Sullivan converted. Billy McNamara got in for a Garryowen try and Kilroy converted. O’Sullivan kicked his second penalty to leave it 25-13.
The Light Blues rallied and closed the gap to two points with a try from Derry O’Connor which Kilroy converted and Damian Gavin added a drop goal.
Constitution dominated the final quarter and two penalties by O’Sullivan were followed by tries from Clune and O’Donnell with O’Sullivan converting both.

The semi final line up is Kilfeacle v Cork Constitution and Cashel v Gallbally with these games scheduled for Sunday 3rd April. Venues to be confirmed later.

Killarney caused a big upset in the Munster Junior Plate when they traveled to Kanturk and defeated the Duhallow side 25-24 to set up a semi final meeting with Castleisland. Padraig Hallissey scored two tries for the Kerry side and Brian O’Sullivan one. Padraig Sheehan kicked two conversions and two penalties. Gary Piggott, Darragh Meade and Daniel Buckley replied with tries for Kanturk and Meade added two conversions and two penalties.

Presentation booked their place in the Munster Junior Bowl Final with a 15 -6 win over Old Crescent at Rosbrien. The other semi final between Kilrush and Waterford City did not take place.

Clanwilliam caused a surprise in the First Division of the Munster Junior League when they inflicted the first home defeat on Crosshaven 27-26. The home side raced into a 19-0 lead with tries from Eoin Kavanagh, Rob Barry and Cian McGovern and Liam Delaney converted two of them. Kieran Merrigan, Robert Doyle and Ian Quinlan replied with tries for the Tipperary side and Brian Kissane kicked three conversions and two penalties.
In the final minute Delaney got in for a fourth try which he converted to secure two bonus points for Crosshaven.

Newport defeated Bandon 29-19 to ease their relegation worries in Division Two. Aidan King, Kevin O’Brien, Tom Ryan, David Hickey and Ciaran Kett scored tries for the home side and Michael Ryan kicked two conversions. Youghal replied with two tries from Stephen Kelly and one by Conor Coleman with Keith McCarthy kicking two conversions.

A last minute penalty try for Douglas which gave them a 22-19 victory over Abbeyfeale has put a big dent in the West Limerick side’s promotion hopes from the Third Division. D.O. O’Connor, Dave O’Callaghan and Denis O’Driscoll scored tries for Douglas and Dave Murphy kicked a conversion. Abbeyfeale replied with tries from Michael Enright, Andrew Scannell and Colin Quirke. Two of the tries were converted by Scannell.

Fermoy kept their hopes alive with a 36-24 victory over Corca Dhuibhne. It was 12-5 to the North Cork side at half time with Shane O’Riordan and Cathal O’Keeffe scoring tries for the home side and O’Riordan converting his own try. Matt Flannery replied with a try for the Kerry Gaeltacht side. Pat Hornibrook added a third try for Fermoy and Eddie O’Connell scored two with O’Riordan converting two of them. Gavin Curran and John Devane and Kevin Moriarty scored tries for the visitors and Sean Collins and Moriarty each kicked a conversion.

Killorglin defeated Bantry Bay 36-0 with tries from Michael Griffin, Tom Healy, Darren Curtayne, David O’Sullivan and Alan Tobin. Luke O’Shea kicked four conversions and a penalty.

A second half try from Declan Coppinger converted by David Shannon helped Skibbereen to a 7-0 win over Cobh Pirates in the quarter final of the Cork County Cup.

Cashel won the Gleeson League defeating Shannon 5-3 in the final with Alan Guirey scoring the all important try for the Tipperary side.

Old Christians won the Mick Barry Cup at Cobh with a 14-5 victory over Youghal. Eric Hayes and Phillip O’Connor scored tries for the winners and Aidan Tobin converted both.

In the Junior Two Cup South, Bandon needed extra time to defeat Waterford City 25-18. Colm Hurley, Eoin O’Tuama, James Neville and Cillian Glynn were try scorers for Bandon and Glynn kicked a conversion and penalty.

Dolphin proved too strong for Dunmanway at Musgrave Park winning 56-0. Tim Cotter scored three tries, Neill Potts two and Killian Walsh, Martin Ahern and Garoid Magner one each. Pat Ahern converted all eight tries.

Carrigaline are through to the Kelly Cup final after their 32-20 away win over Kanturk. Jason Corkery scored two tries for the winners and Roy Murphy and Ray O’Donoghue one apiece. John Tait kicked three conversions and two penalties.

Ballincollig defeated holders Cobh Pirates 17-11 to set up a semi final meeting with Skibbereen. Dave Dinneen scored two tries for the winners and Rob Foulkes one with Kevin Ryan adding a conversion. Cillian Barry replied with a try for the holders and Conor Mahon kicked two conversions.

Fermoy defeated Douglas 25-7 in the McCarthy Cup. Rob Bennett scored a try for Douglas and Brendan O’Connor converted.

Shannon-St. Mary’s advanced to the final of the Avonmore Milk Munster Under 19 league Final after playing a 3-3 draw with holders Waterpark. The Limerick side advanced on the first score rule.

They will meet either Crosshaven or Thomond in the decider. Crosshaven booked their place in the semi final with a 22-17 away win over Kilfeacle.

The semi final line up in the Avonmore Milk Munster Under 17 League was decided after the weekend’s quarter final ties.

Sunday’s Well defeated Bruff 22-12 at Musgrave Park. Tadhg McNeally, Conor Malone, Olan Hanly & Luke O’Leary scored tries for the ‘Well and McNeally added one conversion. Bruff replied with tries from Philip O’Connell and Mike Riordan and Jack Flavin kicked a conversion.

The ‘Well must travel to Waterpark in next week’s semi final after the Suirsiders defeated Kanturk 24-10.

The other semi final will be between Old Crescent who defeated Kilfeacle with a last minute try 5-3 and Shannon at Rosbrien. Shannon booked their semi final place with a 31-3 away win over Abbeyfeale.
