A hugely important win for Highfield against Sundays Well last Friday - Sundays Well RFC

Highfield were well worth their 20-6 win over Sunday’s Well at Irish Independent Park as they moved into second place in Division 2A of the Ulster Bank League.

This result moves Highfield two points off leaders Banbridge with two games remaining, while Sunday’s Well now occupy the relegation play off place two points behind Corinthians.

With wind advantage in the opening half the ‘Well failed to take their chances with the closest they came to a try was when Eoin Geary lost control of the ball as he went to ground it following a great tackle from Luke Kingston.

It was 13-6 to Highfield at half time with Fintan O’Sullivan and Kevin Foyle scoring two well worked tries and Paddy O’Toole added a penalty. Shane O’Riordan replied with two penalties from the home side.

The only score of the second half was a try from Dave O’Hea following a maul from a line out close to the ‘Well line. Paddy O’Toole converted.

Nenagh Ormond slipped to third place following their 29-22 home defeat by Malone. Willie Coffey, Willie O’Connor and Kevin O’Gorman scored tries for Nenagh and Clayton Stewart kicked two conversions and a penalty.

An injury time penalty denied Midleton victory at Towns Park against Bangor in their Division 2C as they went down 29-28.
