In Division 1 of the Women’s AIL, a brace of tries from Ireland number 8 Heather O’Brien helped Highfield to a 15-22 win over St. Mary’s at Templeville Road.
Highfield have now made it 3 wins from 6 and remain in 6th on the table.
In the only fixture outside of Dublin, UL Bohemian registered a convincing 31-0 victory over fellow Munster side Tralee in Annacotty. The win sees UL Bohs move up to 4th while Tralee, still to register a league win this season, remain at the bottom of the table.
In Division 2 South, a late penalty cost Ballincollig victory at home to New Ross. Following their third defeat on the trot, Ballincollig remain in fourth, while a first win of the season moved the New Ross ladies up to 5th.
Meanwhile, Shannon moved to the top of the Division 2 South table after a 13-6 win over St Senan’s. Two line out mauls led to both tries for the Shannon ladies with St. Senan’s tally comprising of two penalties from Rachael O’Brien. Shannon are the only team to have registered four wins in the league to date this season and are two points clear (17 points) of second placed Fermoy.
