West Munster Schools Junior Cup Final
14th May 2014 By Munster Rugby
ISK Killorglin recently played SMI Newcastlewest in the much awaited West Munster schools cup final.
The game was played at a frantic pace with both teams willing to vary their game and consistently playing good phases throughout.
The score was kept low in the first half by some good defence work and Killorglin had a slight lead at the break leading by 7 points to nil.
The second half was played at much the same pace as the first half with both teams scoring a try each, but with only a 5 point lead to Killorglin going into the final 10 minutes.
With both teams trying to finish of the game gaps started to appear and Killorglin ran in two more unanswered tries.
Both teams played in great spirit and were led by example by the two captains on the day Jesse McCormack (ISK) and Jason Woulfe (SMI). At the final whistle Killorglin were worthy winners by 22-7.
Many thanks to Chris Harrington who refereed the game and to Castleisland RFC for allowing the use of their facilities.
Scorers: ISK Killorglin (Try) Shane O Neill x2, Tiarnan Clifford, Kyle Byrne, (Conv) Jesse McCormack x2.
Scores: SMI Newcastlewest (Try) Eamon Ambrose, (Conv) Micheal Bourke
