‘Your Club, Your Country’ Proves Big Success

The IRFU’s 2014 ‘Your Club, Your Country’ Grand Draw, raised over 654,000 euro this year, up 23% on last year’s total.

Last year the scheme, held in association with Ulster Bank, raised €;530,000 for clubs around the country and to date the scheme has provided over 2.6 million Euro in funding for clubs.

The 2014 Grand Draw winners were drawn by IRFU President Louis Magee and Doug Munro from Ulster Bank at a ceremony at the Aviva Stadium yesterday. The draw was overseen by Aidan Connaughton, an independent auditor from Grant Thornton.

Galbally RFC sold the third-placed prize of a VIP trip to the Scotland V Ireland 6 Nations clash in Murrayfield with John Tobin holding the lucky ticket.

Waterford RFC's Paul Kelly was the winner of a VIP package for the Ireland v France Six Nations game at the Aviva Stadium.

Clubs that sold over 80% of their ticket allocation will be entered into the Ulster Bank 'Double Your Money' draw, for a chance to win double the funds raised, which takes place at half time during Ireland v France in the RBS 6 Nations Championship.

The top prize, compliments of Three, to tour with the Irish Rugby Team in England in 2015 which includes flights, hotel accommodation, match tickets and a spending allowance for two people was won by Kieran McKeever and sold by Navan RFC.

Louis Magee, President of the IRFU, commented: "The 2014 'Your Club, Your Country' Grand Draw continues to generate significant fundraising for Clubs around the country.

"The beauty of the scheme is that it is cost neutral for clubs and all the money raised is retained by the clubs. The IRFU will continue to support initiatives that help to generate income for the club game.”

The IRFU and its partners supply the prizes for the 'Your Club, Your Country' Grand Draw which allows clubs to sell up to 1,000 tickets at €;10 per ticket and retain 100% of the revenue from tickets sales.

The fundraising competition is open to all eligible rugby clubs in Ireland and Northern Ireland.
