Our Rugby Development department have been hard at work these past two months in all corners of the province.

To wrap up a cold January John Hodnett and Cian Hurley dropped down to Bandon to a bustling National School blitz run by CCRO Santiago Gonzales.

Aoife Gibbons, athletic development officer for West Munster, was in attendance at the 1st Year blitz held in Killarney earlier this month. While there she went through a number of body weight and other strength and conditioning exercises with the players when they had a break between games. It was a great day had by all and the players went away with a number of new exercises to work into their training sessions.

CCRO Xavier McEldowneey was on hand in West Cork as he ran a girls blitz for first years from Skibbereen Community College.

The North Munster Emerging Schools 1st year blitz was held in Shannon RFC to kick off Febraury.

There were seven schools in attendance from Villiers, Thomond Community College, Edmund Rice College, Newports College, St. Patricks, CBS Nenagh and Borrisokane Community College.

This was Borris0kane’s first Emerging Schools blitz as they linked up with Nenagh CCRO Nathan O’Meara who helped coach and guide the players towards their first competitive games.

Finally CCRO Tadgh McCarthy ran a successful blitz in Mitchelstown RFC earlier this week with a number of primary students from around the locality in attendance.
