Munster’s record appearance-holder Stephen Archer makes his first start of the season on his 286th appearance for the province.

Gavin Coombes returns to the starting XV at no.8 with Jack O’Donoghue moving to blindside flanker.

Mike Haley starts at full-back with Calvin Nash and O’Brien on either wing.

Nankivell and Tom Farrell start together in midfield for the second time with Craig Casey and Jack Crowley continuing their half-back partnership.

Jeremy Loughman, Niall Scannell and Archer pack down in the front row with Jean Kleyn and captain Tadhg Beirne in the engine room.

O’Donoghue, John Hodnett and Coombes complete the side.

Diarmuid Barron, Academy prop Kieran Ryan and John Ryan provide the front row back-up. Shannon’s Kieran Ryan is in line for his fourth senior appearance.

Tom Ahern is included among the replacements after recovering from an ankle injury sustained against Ulster in June.

Academy flanker Ruadhán Quinn is also included among the replacements after completing the return-to-play protocols.

Report | Munster Fall To Defeat In Croke Park

Munster’s suffered their second loss of the URC campaign after going down 26-12 to Leinster in Croke Park.

A first half blitz from Leinster set the home side on course for victory but Munster produced a very strong second half performance but were unable to convert a number of chances to reduce he deficit further.

Possession changed hands frequently in the opening five minutes but it was Leinster who had the first major chance when they had a lineout inside the Munster 22.

From this lineout Leinster went through the phases edging closer to the Munster line until a skip pass out wide found James Lowe who dotted down in the corner.

Another penalty concession from Munster saw Lowe take a quick tap penalty and the Kiwi was brought to the ground just short of the Munster line.

The home side went through a number of phases before Caelan Doris crashed over next to the posts for their second try which Ciaran Frawley converted to put Leinster 14-0 up after 10 minutes.

The home side were in ruthless form and from their next entry into the 22, Hugo Keenan went through a gap to score. Frawley’s conversion ensured a 21-0 lead with 15 minutes on the clock.

Two minutes later, Munster had a chance to register three points but Crowley’s long-range effort came back off the crossbar. Another penalty was awarded to Munster soon after which went to the corner. After a period of sustained pressure, in the Leinster 22, Munster looked to have scored their first try through Calvin Nash but the referee Chris Busby called Alex Nankivell’s pass forward.

Munster did get the try they deserved after 34 minutes when a ball to the back of the lineout went to Gavin Coombes who played a reverse pass to Seán O’Brien who crashed over. Crowley’s conversion went wide as Munster reduced the deficit to 21-5 with five minutes remaining in the first half.

Unfortunately for Munster, Leinster got another score before the half-time break with RG Snyman crashing over from close range which left Leinster leading 26-5 at the break.

Munster had much of the possession and territory in the first 20 minutes of the second half but crucially were unable to get that try which would have brought them back into the game.

Munster did get their second try on 65 minutes when Gavin Coombes produced a lovely grubber kick which saw Mike Haley win the foot race and touch down. Crowley’s successful conversion saw the deficit reduce to 26-12.

Munster had further chances to come away with a losing bonus point but it wasn’t to be.
