Greencore Munster Rugby Academy out-half Ben Healy converted for the win and also kicked six penalties in another great performance off the tee.

Healy kicked Munster into a 6-0 lead after after six minutes. An Edinburgh maul infringement and great work at the breakdown from Jeremy Loughman earned the two opportunities with Healy carrying on from where he left off last week.

Jack O’Donoghue was very nearly in for the first Munster try when Rory Scannell kicked in behind the Edinburgh defence but Damian Hoyland just touched down before the flanker got his hand to the ball.

Munster were back in front through Healy’s third penalty after a dangerous Edinburgh tackle as Munster led 9-7 after 20 minutes.

Andrew Conway was very nearly in when he chipped over the Edinburgh defence on the right wing but the winger’s second kick was too central and Hoyland was able to recover.

Edinburgh were next to strike after a sustained period of pressure in the Munster 22 with WP Nel powering over as Van der Walt’s conversion made it 14-9.

A clever show-and-go from Player of the Match Craig Casey got Munster back on the attack and Healy kicked his fourth penalty on the stroke of half-time after a big turnover from Tadhg Beirne as Munster trailed 14-12 at the interval.

A fantastic recovery tackle from Conway on George Taylor prevented a third Edinburgh try with Rhys Marshall on the spot to win back possession when Taylor released.

Van der Walt did get points on the board for the visitors shortly afterwards however as Munster were penalised for an offside and Edinburgh led 17-12 after 49 minutes.

Healy hit back just four minutes later with his fifth penalty and the out-half put Munster back in front with his sixth after he was high-tackled by van der Walt.

The Edinburgh out-half was sin-binned and the Munster out-half kicked Munster into an 18-17 lead after 58 minutes.

Bennett kicked Edinburgh back in front after a very dangerous counter-attack with Munster pinged for an offside as we trailed 20-18 after 66 minutes.

Outstanding work at the breakdown by replacement James Cronin won Munster another penalty opportunity just short of the 70-minute mark but Healy was just off target.

Van der Walt kicked his third penalty on 74 minutes after Munster were offside as they chased Healy’s clearing kick.

Healy kicked Munster into the corner a minute later after Edinburgh were penalised at the breakdown and the province were patient and clinical going through the phases with Stander touching down.
