Grainne began playing age-grade rugby with Ennis RFC where she played as a centre and out-half.

Last season, while playing adult rugby with Ennis-Kilrush and UL Bohemian, she made the switch to prop and was called up to the Munster senior squad for the first time ahead of the 2024/25 Vodafone Women’s Interprovincial Championship.
